Google Pine Island

Project Skyway is a proposed data center development located on a 482-acre site in Pine Island, Minnesota, near Rochester. The facility, developed by Ryan Companies, is planned to be up to three stories high with approximately 3 million sq ft of floor area.

Energy for the data center will be supplied by Xcel Energy. Ryan Companies has indicated that utility bill increases for existing customers are not anticipated as a result of this development, and infrastructure upgrades for large customers will be funded by the developer. Proposed water usage is around 152,000 gallons per day.

Development plans have not yet been filed with the city of Pine Island, and the proposed site is not currently within city limits. Ryan Companies expects to submit development applications by the end of 2025.

Concerns have been raised by some citizens regarding potential noise pollution, environmental impact, and rising costs associated with the project.
