Terranova San Miguel de Allende

Terranova, a Brazil-based data center company backed by the British fund Actis, has launched its first data center in Mexico, located in San Miguel de Allende. This facility, situated near the key data center market of Queretaro, begins operations with 8.12MW of IT capacity and has the potential to scale up to 20MW in subsequent phases.

The development of the San Miguel de Allende data center was notably rapid, with a design and construction period of just one year, a pace considered above average for such projects. Terranova has a significant investment plan of US$1.5 billion for data center development across Latin America.

The facility is engineered to serve hyperscale clients, emphasizing speed, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence to meet the growing demand for AI, cloud, data, and critical applications. Terranova's expansion strategy prioritizes quality, security, and efficiency, aligning with client needs for resilience and geographic diversity. The company's approach distinguishes it from its sister company, NextStream, with Terranova focusing on greenfield projects and AI-related demands, while NextStream concentrates on organic growth within its existing infrastructure.
