The Rakuten Niigata-Nagaoka data center, formerly operated by Data Dock, is a cold-climate facility located in Nagaoka, Japan. It employs a sustainable, hybrid air conditioning system that leverages outside air and snow/ice cooling. This innovative approach significantly reduces power consumption by approximately 40% compared to conventional data centers of similar scale.

As a pioneer in environmental initiatives, the data center was the first in Japan to offer "SDGs Housing." This service allows clients to receive J-Credits, which represent verified greenhouse gas emission reductions, free of charge based on their housing service usage. The facility aims to contribute to global warming prevention by reducing CO2 emissions and providing these credits to clients who are also strengthening their environmental measures.
