The Ofek Data Center, located near Ashdod, Israel, is set to become the nation's largest data center upon its completion in the second half of 2029. Developed by a consortium including Serverfarm and the Israel Infrastructure Fund (IIF), this facility will have an initial capacity of 130MW, specifically designed for AI workloads. It will be directly powered by an 850MW gas-fired power station being constructed adjacent to Ashdod's port. Future expansion plans aim to increase the compute capacity to 200MW and integrate Nvidia GPUs. The project also includes a connection to European markets through an underwater optical fiber cable, facilitated by permission from Israel's communications ministry. The estimated construction cost is $1.5 billion, with potential increases to approximately $5 billion if the planned upgrades are implemented.
