Almaguin Data Center

Almaguin Data Center is a proposed artificial intelligence (AI) compute facility located in the Armour Industrial Park, Burk's Falls, Ontario, Canada. The project, spearheaded by local firm Almaguin Data, aims to establish a "sovereign AI compute facility" utilizing containerized technology. Initially planned as a 2MW site, it has the potential to expand to 10MW, with an estimated total investment exceeding CA$50 million (US$36 million) over three to five years. The facility is designed to leverage the region's cold climate for more environmentally friendly and cost-effective operations. Almaguin Data emphasizes its role in providing a "Canadian sovereign backbone for high-performance compute," ensuring data remains under Canadian jurisdiction. The project is expected to create high-paying professional roles. While confirmed power capacity is available from Hydro One, local officials are conducting studies on potential noise and other impacts before final approval.
